Greycloaks

The Rules of Conduct

1: Play however you want.
2: Don’t be a jerk
3: When Rule #1 and Rule #2 conflict, see Rule #2.

Violation is grounds for immediate demotion, removal from guild chat, muting, and/or removal from the guild.

Note: There are other rules for promotion and other things related to guild mechanics. These are rules of conduct, not promotion requirements – “Playing how you want” doesn’t include getting Officer rank the day you join. It also doesn’t mean you can run bots or exploit bugs – those things harm the game and therefore your guildmates and every other player, and therefore constitutes being a big jerk (and grounds for removal).

Promotion Policy

Rank 1: Every new or returning member starts here, one character no alts. No bank access.
Rank 2: After 2 weeks in the guild you may ASK to be promoted, you are also allowed 1 alternate character.
Rank 3: 90 days after promotion to Rank 2, you may ASK to be promoted to rank 3, you may also have another additional alternate character invited as well.
Rank 4: 90 days after promotion to Rank 3, you may ASK to be promoted to rank 4, you may also have another additional alternate character invited as well, if there is room.
Rank 5: Officers in training, can only be granted by a recommendation of a rank 6 or 7.
Rank 6: Officers, can only be granted by another rank 6 or rank 7, once there is consensus reached by the existing leadership.
Rank 7: Leaders, can only be granted by Rank 7 consensus.

Exceptions for alternative characters can be granted based on available space, but only if your main is at minimum Rank 2. Please note, if it wasn’t entirely clear above, you must request a promotion – it’s part of the process, if you want promotion you have to ask for it.

Alliance Expectations

If you are in one of the guilds in the Alliance and wish to move to another guild in the Alliance, approach your current guild leader and explain your reasons for wanted to move. 99% of the time your leader will approve the move, however, allow your guild leader to talk with the other guild leader to make the transition seamless. If you are banned or removed from any other guild in the Alliance for cause, you will not be admitted into another guild in the Alliance, you are banned from the Alliance.

Statement on cheating and the use of exploits

This alliance does not condone the use of exploits or cheating of any kind. Cheating hurts the game and the reputation of our guild and alliance (thus a direct violation of Rule #2 and Rule #3), and will not be tolerated. Regardless of the guild you are in, anyone found to be cheating or advocating such behavior in any way will be removed from the alliance, added to our permanent ban list, and reported to Cryptic. The general process will be to issue a warning to ensure members have the chance to discontinue this behavior, but failure to comply will result in the above mentioned actions. No exceptions of any kind – status, rank, time in guild, level – it doesn’t matter. Cheating and cheaters have no place in this alliance

If you have any questions or concerns about our guild and/or alliance rules, please don’t hesitate to ask any officer.

Bank Rules

The rules for bank use are pretty simple:

Permissions are set for a reason. Don’t feel bad about taking anything that you have access to, but do remember it is all donated stuff, so if you take out things, please put it back. The Councilors and Governors do pay attention to the bank log, and if we see behavior that appears like abuse, we will take action.

Rank 1 members in any guild have no rights to the bank, this is for security reasons. Once you qualify for promotion beyond Rank 1 in your guild, you will earn access to the bank. You must qualify for promotion to earn access to the bank. Please see the requirements for your guild for information on that.

The main rule about the bank is: Don’t be a jackass.

If you have rights to take X number of things out per day, that doesn’t necessarily give you the right to take that number of items out every single day. That is considered abuse.

Those numbers are limits to make sure someone doesn’t just clear out a repository on a whim and leave, it’s not actually a daily allowance.

That said, DO NOT feel bad about taking items from the guild bank, just don’t be abusive about it. Taking a load of stuff one time — for whatever reason — is fine. Taking a load of stuff several days in a row is NOT OK.

Your consumption of bank resources should be generally offset by your contribution.

That doesn’t mean you have to trade each time – but if you have been taking from the bank, you should also be contributing to it over time. There’s no hard and fast scale here, just use common sense — we don’t need a lot of junk in the bank, but if you’ve taken some epic gear, the next time you come into some epic gear, think about dropping it in the bank instead of selling/salvaging/refining it. Same with enchants or refinement stuff. Just remember it’s a communal resource and if people only take, it will be used up (professor hat on: this is called the Tragedy of the Commons — go look it up 😉
