Episode 2, The Soul Keeper Data Mining

If you’re wondering if this is an April Fools’ Joke, yes, this is a completely fabricated April Fools’ joke.

Our experts here at the Tredecim Cloak Alliance are continuously working behind the scenes to dig up stuff hidden in the game files and we believe we have a good bunch of new information that’s worth sharing.

We know that Sharandar Episode 2, The Soul Keeper, is being delayed due to a shared testing team at Cryptic that has been fully consumed testing Magic Legends (now in Beta) and the daily pushes the Magic Legends team is making to support a successful beta launch. As a result, the Episode 2 game files have already been pushed to the preview server to support a small group of testers (the same group of our Alliance testers who tested the Vault of Stars) and they are working under NDA to test the Episode 2 Walking Nightmare Heroic Encounter.

A group of our Alliance who are not under NDA set off to see what we could find the game files on the preview server.

We all know that the Archfey are going to play a major story role in Episode 2. We found strings in the gamefiles that show we’re in for a new “ArchFey” lockbox:

Lockbox_ArchFey_Mount_Pack_Mythic
Lockbox_ArchFey_Insignia_Pack_Mythic_Crescent
Lockbox_ArchFey_Insignia_Pack_Mythic_Regal
Lockbox_ArchFey_Insignia_Pack_Mythic_Barbed
Lockbox_ArchFey_Insignia_Pack_Mythic_Illuminated
Lockbox_ArchFey_Insignia_Pack_Mythic_Enlightened
Lockbox_ArchFey_Enchant_Pack
Lockbox_ArchFey_Companion_Augmentation_Pack
Lockbox_Darkforest_Tradebar_Jackpot
Lockbox_Darkforest_Companion_Token_Jackpot
Lockbox_Darkforest_Mount_Token_Jackpot

Yes, you saw that right, we now have Mythic Insignias for mounts. Our interpretation of the first line of the lockbox code is that we’ll likely see a Mythic Mount Choice Pack for all mounts since the Tyrannosaur that have been initially available at a Mythic rank (as opposed to upgrading to Mythic). Mythic Insignias were only a matter of time, we suppose.

In addition, we also found icons for a series of 6 Archfey packs that are likely to appear in the Zen store. We’re not able to tell what is going to be included in the packs, so we’ll have to wait until Episode 2 pushes to live to check out their contents.

Finally, and perhaps most exciting, we found a brand new companion that totally fits with the Archfey theme: the Boggle. Initial testing on the preview server not only shows a massive dps gain for players who have farmed weapons from the trials due to the companion equip power, Boggle’s Mischief, but also that the Boggle as a summoned companion also nets about a 12% damage increase over Xuna; those claws are sharp!!

So far we’ve been able to confirm that that both the Tower of the Mad Mage (ToMM) and Zariel’s Challenge weapons proc Boggle’s Mischief. Perhaps most compelling is that the companion equip power can be slotted in either the Offense or Defense slots, making this companion compelling for any dps class, like Barbarians that have fewer Offense slots.

But here’s the bad news: unfortunately, we think the Boggle will only be available in the Zen store, much like Soradiel in the Avernus campaign, and is Bound to Account (is this pay to win??). Fortunately, however, the Boggle is claimable for all toons on the account. We hope that the Boggle becomes a drop from the Walking Nightmare Heroic Encounter, after all, Boggles are sometimes referred to as bogeymen, or simply bogeys, and are a perfect thematic fit with Walking Nightmares!

We hope you liked our little datamining update and make sure to share your thoughts in the comments below.
